Birthday Bash Wedding Card ~ Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

You read right, this is a wedding card I made from the Balloon Bash stamp set. We celebrated the marriage of my brother-in-law and his wonderful lady a couple of weeks ago. What a glorious day it was together with family and friends.

When I came across those navy stripes on the Birthday Bash papers, they reminded me of a skirt the bride used to wear. I had to use them! Actually, I never told her that link. Somewhat irrelevant perhaps.

The beauty of photopolymer stamps is you can see exactly where you're putting the ink. I didn't use a marker on this one (because that would require digging in my pencil case) but carefully inked all of the stamp except the word 'birthday' using a regular ink pad. I then cleaned it well and inked only the 'day' in 'birthday' and hey, presto - you have an image that can used be for any celebration. The Hello Honey embellishments around 'day' are from the 'HB' stamp in this same set. Same deal - just used the ink pad instead of a marker. Well, you know me - always one to take a stamp not only for its face value. Have a bit of fun and think outside the box with your images :)

Hoppy Birthday ~ By Kids, For Kids

My big two and I made this together for their cousin's Frog Birthday on the weekend. Such fun! Who doesn't love a bit of punch art? The beauty of punch art is you just make do with what you have and dive in.

The background is from the Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper pack. Perfect watery lily pad setting don't you think?

Have a hoppy day.

Preschooler Inspiration Board ~ Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

My daughter - oh-lover-of-all-things-crafty - has a desk in her room where she squirrels away at her leisure. Here's an inspiration board I made for her using the Hello Life Project Kit as a starting point. These printable flash cards are fun for learning letter sounds but the pictures are cute too and have been popping up in her drawings already. Find them here at Mr Printables.

This came together quite quickly including my messy bow-poms. Can you tell? Haha. Wrap and wrap around two fingers, slip the bundle off carefully, tie a separate piece around the centre and cut the loops. Peg on bits from the Hello Life kit and a some Pompom Trim and you're done. Penny's feeling pretty chuffed with it.

What I LOVE: the black frame is so awesome and a really neat size too. Nothing is stuck on permanently so I look forward to changing it up later when she or I get bored of it.

Some other ideas for the frame:
Family notice/admin area
Polaroid style display for Instagram pics
Birthday party decor
Home Reno/DIY mood board...

Endless possibilities really!!!!

Hello Life + Project Life ~ Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Bit of a personal story this week. I don't know if it's because I've gotten a bit older or just more comfortable in my skin that I've decided not to shy away from photos or complain about how I look in them. (In most cases no one else's eye is so critical anyway!!) I DO know that someday it will be important to my kids that I was present in their memories through photos and how I look in them only reflects where I was externally at the time - the biggest thing was that I was there and that I love them.

I encourage you to embrace how you look now in photos whether you feel you have some weight to lose or gain or whatever. Paint that smile with your pearly whites showing on your beautiful face - your loved ones will thank you for it :) xox
